Long story short
I'm Janice! I go to the University of Pennsylvania where I study computer science and design. This summer, I was a product design intern at Benchling. Before that, I was a UX Design Intern at Workiva and Digital Design Intern at Penn Medicine. The design process is what makes design so enjoyable for me—a non-linear journey of discovery and ambiguity that leads to solutions that serve people.
The long story
I'm Janice! I'm a fourth-year at the University of Pennsylvania studying computer science and design as a dual degree candidate. I get the best of both worlds—a technical engineering education and an innovative, interdisciplinary liberal arts background. At Penn, I work with my peers to build software projects for nonprofit organizations, teach design to the Spark community members, and design spreads for Penn Appétit. I first discovered design when I accidentally helped rebrand FemmeHacks.

This summer, I was a Product Design Intern at Benchling on the Lab Automation team. Before that, I was an UX Design Intern at Workiva and Digital Design Intern at Penn Medicine.

I believe that thoughtful design can build digital experiences that take care of people. With a background in engineering and design, I hope to build quality interactions with other like-minded, multidisciplinary individuals. The design process is what makes design so enjoyable for me—a non-linear journey of discovery and ambiguity that leads to solutions that serve people.

If I’m not online, I’m probably cooking dinner for friends, working my way through my bookshelf, or biking around Philadelphia. Other things I enjoy are lounging with my cat Bori, shoppy shops, music-fueled walks in cities, brown butter chocolate chip cookies with flaky salt, ranking restaurants, jammy eggs, etc.
